What this folder is

This folder holds an original, theme-by-theme digest of the durable static general knowledge a CAPF aspirant must own, modelled on the coverage of the standard Lucent General Knowledge reference but written entirely in our own words. Lucent is a recall reference, not a learning text; its value is as one place to revise the high-frequency facts that fall between the NCERT subject silos: superlatives, firsts, organisations, awards, sports and abbreviations.

For any claim, the underlying primary source is the authority (the Constitution, the Census, ISRO, a sports federation, the awarding body). Do not cite Lucent itself as a source where a primary source exists. For any year-sensitive fact (current office-holders, latest award winners, latest sports records, latest counts of States or schemes), verify the latest.

The single-file overview of this canon is at lucent static gk digest. Source policy is at sources index.

Theme map

  • history static, dynasties, dates, freedom-struggle milestones, firsts and superlatives.
  • geography static, superlatives of the world and India, rivers, mountains, boundaries, space facts.
  • polity static, Constitution facts, Articles, posts, schedules and amendments at recall depth.
  • economy static, institutions, abbreviations, headquarters, indices and money facts.
  • science static, units, discoveries, inventors, scientific instruments and "branches of science."
  • sports, disciplines, cups and trophies, terms, venues and Indian achievements.
  • awards and honours, civilian and gallantry awards, Nobel and other prizes, Indian recipients.
  • miscellaneous gk, books and authors, days and themes, abbreviations, organisations and their heads.

How to revise this for CAPF

  1. Treat these pages as recall lists, not as reading. Read them last, after the subject modules, to mop up the cross-cutting facts.
  2. Prioritise the durable, examinable facts: firsts, superlatives, Article numbers, gallantry awards and the parent ministries of the armed and paramilitary forces.
  3. Drill the security-relevant facts that CAPF stresses: the gallantry awards in order of precedence, the central armed police forces and their parent ministry, the defence and intelligence agencies, and the disaster-response framework.
  4. For everything time-bound, verify the latest before relying on it.
